Geoff Posegate

 

MISSION STATEMENT:   To teach, coach, mentor, and equip persons to live as Jesus-followers.

 

Geoff came to First United Methodist Church as senior pastor in 2005.   Previously he has served four other appointments in Missouri – Trinity and West Pleasant Valley United Methodist Churches in Bloomfield (1978-1983), Wesley United Methodist Church in Jefferson City (1983-1988), First United Methodist Church in West Plains (1988-2000), and CrossRoads United Methodist Church in Belton (2000-2005).

 

Geoff has been married to Elaine since 1975.  (Elaine is our church’s Director of Senior Adult Ministries.)   They have three children, a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter.  Their daughter, Jennifer Skeeters, and her husband Jay, and their daughter Paige live in West Plains.  Their son, Josh, and his wife, Cara, live in Marshall, Missouri.  Their son, Matt, is a student at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

 

Geoff is a graduate of Central Methodist College and Eden Theological Seminary.  He was ordained an Elder in the United Methodist Church in August of 1979.

 

Geoff’s primary emphases throughout his ministry have been evangelism, discipleship development, and spiritual formation.  His role at First United Methodist Church is to be the lead preacher and teacher, guiding the overall vision for the church, and leading the process of growing a fellowship of people who are connected to Christ, shaped by Christ, sent by Christ, and connecting others to Christ.
