Thanks to the "2 Old Guys" - Gerry Mandel and Dave Morris," who taught us the history of beer advertising at our March 24 meeting. At our November meeting, we kicked off the ADDY season by viewing spoof videos of Addys past. It was great entertainment for all!
October - Political Advertising
Thanks to our October speaker, Dr.  Larry Underberg, associate professor of Communication Studies at Southeast Missouri State University, who spoke on the timely topic of political advertising – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. This is a topic that Dr. Underberg is particularly familiar with; one of the courses he teaches at Southeast deals with political persuasion and propaganda (in other words, “political communication”). September - Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo
Thank you to our September luncheon speaker - Ron Payne, rodeo chairman for the Sikeston Jaycees. We learned about the promotion of the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo. They might make it look easy but it's not! We got to see what it takes to pull off such a large annual event that brings in tens of thousands of spectators as well as celebrity riders and musicians. August - U.S. Postal Service/Direct Mail
We want to give a special thank you to our August speaker, Alonzo Jenkins of the United States Postal Service. He is a sales specialist for the postal service and works out of the St. Louis office. He spoke on new ways we can deliver that "tingle" when our customers receive mail from us through the Postal Service. He discussed ways to "narrow cast" our approach to finding new customers and retain our current ones all while using the multi-talented marketing tool of direct mail.
